Company History

    Harold Barnett founded the company way back in 1961 in Modesto, CA. The company had one truck and Harold and his Brother-in-Law started out installing plumbing in houses, his wife Mary and Sister Ilona took care of the Accounting. Over the years the company has grown to as many as 50 Employee's, and has provided Custom Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning Systems in thousands of homes and businesses in Stanislaus County.

    Harold believed that Well Trained People would provide trouble free systems.  That belief has proved to be the backbone of the Company today.  Many previous customers have recommended us as well as returned to have new homes constructed, remodeled or repaired.  Harold would only provide Top Quality Products so that his customers would experience trouble free service during it's life.  Many customers have returned only to have their systems updated with more High Quality, High Efficiency Products.

    During the recession of the 1980's his third son Bob, and his wife Sherry showed interest in taking over the company.  Bob being only 21 at the time and having worked in the company since he was 14 was ready to take on the Company to build one of the largest and best Mechanical Companies around for his children to take over someday.   He accomplished that goal, but after about 10 years found that the Top Quality Systems the Company was famous for had been compromised almost to the status quo due to competitive bidding and tract homes and the inability to properly maintain quality control over so many people..

    Thinking back they realized that the very thing that made them successful, (Top Quality Workmanship) had been compromised and it was time for a change.   They decided to refocus the direction of the company to previous customers and new ones in need of Top Quality Service. Seeing the need for better Air Quality in homes a Large Vacuum Truck was Purchased in 1990 to clean up dirty ducting systems and help alleviate respiratory problems for their customers. A digital radio / pager system was also acquired so service technicians could respond quickly and be more effective. 

    July 1995 was a major turning point for the company when it was decided that with the growing substance abuse problems in the area that all employee's would be required to submit to, and pass a periodic  Drug / Alcohol test. A Customer Service daily training workshop was initiated to build the BEST team of technicians in the area. The employee's are trained on everything from how to knock on the door, to wearing shoe covers, to vacuuming up when finished and be able to communicate what your available options are as well as recommendations. They are trained not only to repair the problem at hand, but to look for other areas of concern to avoid further expense and inconvenience.  The Trademark of "Service Beyond Expectations" was created due to customer response of a more than a favorable experience.

    April 1998 Barnett's earn the Value Star rating of very satisfied customers (the only heating and air company in the area) in the value they received and that they would recommend the company. The Company has maintained that rating and currently holds the GOLD rating.   Harold and Bob have such confidence in their Technicians and the Products they provide. that a 100% Satisfaction Guarantee is honored on every repair and installation.

   August 1999 Barnett's Was Awarded The Better Business "Torch Award" For Outstanding Business Ethics.  Only One Award Was Given For All Of The San Joaquin Valley.

  November 2004 Barnett's Was Voted Runner Up Of The Modesto Bee's Readers Choice For Heating & Air Contractors.

  November 2005 Barnett's Was Voted #1 Heating & Air Company By Modesto Bee's Readers.

  Both in 199 and again in August 2006, Barnett's Was Awarded The Better Business "Torch Award" For Outstanding Business Ethics. Only One Award Was Given For All Of The San Joaquin Valley For This Business Size.
